Help Alleviate the Energy Crisis

It’s no secret that we need a cleaner solution to the energy crisis that Americans have been experiencing over the past several years. The summer of 2008 marked the highest energy prices in history and homeowners have been feeling the effects in their wallet month after month. Energy resources used to fuel our cars, cool our homes, and light our bedrooms have soared high in price, leaving us lost and confused for a solution. While we are in the midst of a new presidential election and our hopes for a stronger economy and affordable energy prices, there are small things that we can do at home to alleviate the current national crisis.

One myth about environmentally friendly products is that they are ugly since many are made of reusable and recycled materials, that eco-friendly is another word for ‘leftovers’. Well think again! Some of the chicest items on the market are energy efficient and made from organic, recyclable or recycled materials. One way to save on energy is to introduce energy efficient lighting to your home from the nursery to the kitchen. Think of how much electricity you use in a day at home whether you are cooking Saturday morning pancakes, reading a book, drying your hair, watching a movie, or taking a shower. Light is used everywhere and now’s the chance to fashion your home with a stylish lamp without sucking up all of those volts and watts!
